Canoe Country Outfitters is pleased to
announce its partnership with “Big D’s Kayaking."
Big D’s is Don and Donna Thompson
who will provide Kayak and Canoe instruction for us, and
are also available to lead guided trips. They are
veteran flat-water and white-water paddlers and hold
numerous certifications from the British Canoe Union and
American Canoe Association.

Our first class is “Fundamental
Foundation Strokes," and will take place at War Veterans
Park Saturday August 21st.
You will learn the correct way to load, unload and carry
you boat as well as paddling basics, edging, bracing,
turning going straight and more! The class is 2-3 hours
in length and cost $75.00 per person.

Kayaking
Introduction to Kayaking
This 2-hour class is a combination
of on-land & on-the-water sessions.
Students will be instructed on
unloading & carrying their kayak,
the types of kayaks, safety features
of kayaks, safe practices in a
kayak, getting in & out of their
kayak, simple paddle strokes to get
started
and securing their kayak for
transportation.
We
will have about 4 students per instructor. This
class is conducted in protected water.
Class Tuition: $59.00; however, anyone who has
already or within 30 days will have purchased a
kayak from Canoe Country Outfitters will receive a
$30.00
gift certificate upon completion of the course.
Bracing, Edging & Recoveries
Ever wish you had an emergency,
almost-instantaneous outrigger to
help you balance and stabilize your
kayak? In
this class you will build your own. You
will then learn to use it to make
your strokes much
more easily and all of your paddling
more confident, more secure, and
more stable. We
will help you improve your sweeps,
low and high
brace turns, bow rudders, hanging
draw, and stern rudders.
Each
class will be limited to four
students per instructor and be
conducted in a protected area at War
Veteran’s Memorial Park.
The
class costs $49 per student.
*Students who complete either course
will receive a
$20
Gift Certificate from CCO.
