Current Designs has been producing solid touring kayaks for years. They're mainly known for their composite kayaks, producing lightweight fiberglass and Kevlar kayaks in styles ranging recreational, transitional, and touring. They also produce a moderate selection of rotomolded polyethylene kayaks for a range of fits and conditions.

Current Designs may have achieved acclaim through their touring kayaks, but they also produce some solid recreational kayaks.
The Kestrel family offers some of the most popular recreational hulls in the industry. Kayaks which are nimble and efficient in backwaters, rivers/springs, and even coastal waters on calm days. Offered in both Polyethylene and Composite, the Kestrel can provide a comfortable carry weight to aid in getting the kayak to the water.
Transitional kayaks are designed for the paddler that wants more performance from their kayak, without limiting themselves to 17’ open water kayaks, and sacrificing comforts such as a full backrest. These boats offer many of the comforts of recreational kayaks, but in a slimmed down hull that will be more efficient in the water, and more responsive to the paddlers, beginning to introduce users to concepts such as edging (leaning to one side in-order to steer the boat, rather than interrupting paddle cadence for adjustments).
Current Designs offers a versatile line-up of transitional kayaks with the Vision family. Ranging from 120 - 150, the Vision offers a fit for every size paddler, and boats geared for a variety of conditions and waterways. Whether durability or weight is the biggest concern, the Vision family offers hulls in both durable Polyethylene, and lightweight Composite construction to best suit your needs
This section is where you will find Current Designs’ full-on touring kayaks. A range of options for those who love to gear up and head out on extended trips, or want to cover water in the quickest, most efficient way possible while paddling. Current Designs offers hulls in Polyethylene, for those who need a large degree of durability, and in composites such as Fiberglass and Kevlar, for those who want to keep the weight down, but also want a rigid hull in the water to boast efficiency.
These boats were designed to be at home with inland waterways, and even the rough waters of the Great Lakes, making these kayaks ideal for the inter-coastal and coastal waterways in Florida.
