CURRENT DESIGNS KAYAKS

Current Designs Logo

Current Designs has been producing quality touring kayaks for years. They're mainly known for their composite kayaks, producing lightweight fiberglass and Kevlar kayaks in styles ranging recreational, transitional, and touring. They also produce a moderate selection of rotomolded polyethylene kayaks for a range of fits and conditions. This page has a selection of Current Designs kayaks we stock, divided by style/purpose of the hull.

RECREATIONAL KAYAKS

Current Designs may have achieved acclaim through their touring kayaks, but they also produce quality recreational kayaks. These rotomolded kayaks are durable, comfortable, and forgiving for those with little-to-no kayak experience, but without being restrictive to those who have been paddling for years and are in search of an easy-going day-tripping kayaking.

TRANSITIONAL KAYAKS

Transitional kayaks are designed for the paddler that wants more performance from their kayak, without limiting themselves to 17’ open water kayaks, and sacrificing comforts such as a full backrest. These boats offer many of the comforts of recreational kayaks, but in a slimmed down hull that will be more efficient in the water, and more responsive to the paddlers, beginning to introduce users to concepts such as edging (leaning to one side in-order to steer the boat, rather than interrupting paddle cadence for adjustments).
